Video description

IOWA Passing Mare Island, Vallejo, and Crockett, California 10-28-2011. USS IOWA was moved out of the Suisun Bay (northern California) "Mothball Fleet" by Pacific Battleship Center on October 27, 2011. Note her mast still resting on the fantail (cut in order to 'fit' under bridges).

After berthing overnight in Benicia, she was moved by tugboats to Richmond, CA. Over a period of months BB-61 was partially refurbished, then towed to the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA. She is now open to the public as a floating museum, an educational center, and an events venue (and more). Video by Greg Bishop, USS IOWA Ship's Photographer.
