Video description

A gritty short from the pits. Shot at Tattarisuo, Helsinki, June 23rd 2010, at a "Fossil Series" karting event. I wanted to capture some of the moods of the series, the pinnacle of motor racing. The grown up guys becoming kids again. Everyone's enjoying the laid back event, until it's their heat... Things obviously get more serious with the helmet on.

The key to the series shortly: all teams have three members, with a minimum combined age of 85 years. Each of the three members must drive one heat in a race event. Starting positions are randomized (in a statistically fair way). The drivers should have no active higher class career / license. The go-karts are quite strictly regulated, with a Raket 120 engine, and must weigh at least 160kg with the driver after each heat. Hence the ballast tweaks per driver.
Shot with GH13, kit zoom and an FD 50mm, Zoom H4n. Some shots were done using a DIY monopod-steadicam, many shots should have been done using any kind of stabilizer. Editing in Vegas 10.
