This is a racing game concept I’ve been tinkering with for a while. There is a loose game idea that this is working towards, but it is mainly a test-bed for trying out some fun things in Unity. One of the key concepts underpinning the project is the use of physics to make the game feel visceral, and as if the vehicle is rickety and could fall apart at any moment. The gameplay involves reckless driving, lots of smashing through obstacles and a dramatic explosion when the car takes too much damage.
The actual car mechanics are taken from the Unity Car Tutorial, and most of the problem solving has been around the tricks, physics, exploding and re-assembling car, and the camera.
This demo video shows an early attempt at bringing a gravity manipulator mechanic to the gameplay.
