Under the Stairs

Something lives under the stairs. Every night it steals a little more of the house — socks, buttons, the warm light from the hallway. Tonight Ozzy grabs his flashlight and opens the hatch. Descend through the underside of the house — the Laundry, the Boiler Room and the Roots — all the way to the Very Bottom, where the Tenant waits. Every run is a new map of rooms: fights, Tenants with odd habits, strange Oddities, Shu's shop in a cardboard box and Nightlights to rest by. Build your deck as you go: 254 cards, 90 Finds and 20 Jars you can drink or throw. Your batteries charge up every turn — from 2 to 6 — so the first turns are careful and the late ones hit hard. Aim the flashlight at a monster to attack, pull the cord to switch off the light and end your turn — and watch the monsters' eyes glow in the dark. Four heroes play completely differently: Ozzy, Nana, Miso the cat and Beep the robot vacuum.

The game is a spooky roguelike deck-building adventure where you explore mysterious rooms, battle strange creatures, collect useful items, and build a deck to survive the dangers beneath the house.

You explore room by room, using your flashlight to aim at monsters and attack them. Your batteries recharge each turn, allowing you to use stronger attacks as the battle progresses. Pulling the cord switches off the light and ends your turn.

You can build your own deck using 254 cards, collect 90 different Finds, and use 20 Jars that can be drunk or thrown. You can also choose between four heroes: Ozzy, Nana, Miso the cat, and Beep the robot vacuum, each with a completely different playstyle.
