The history of magic is very old, the first documents referencing magic came from ancient Greek myths and represent the paranormal type of magic. Later in Ancient Rome, the more theatrical form of magic played out in a performance using cups and balls. Both forms of magic involved an individual or group that seeks to influence an audience. It can be performed for entertainment or gains such as love and fortune through black magic. The magic world is deeply tangled with yet distinctly separate from religion and other forms of study and worship. Things labeled as magical were historically thought of as socially unacceptable or foreign. Some forms of magic, such as necromancy or communicating with the dead are considered forbidden magic. Throughout history and different cultures, magic has been universal and so has periodic events of mass moral panic leading to the executing of those labeled as practicing witchcraft.
